Apple Spice Donuts

Donuts are such a loved and craved food, but sooo not healthy, until now!  Ashley, our vegan baker, came up with a very unique, and healthy take on donuts with this light, yet satisfying sweet and spicy version.  They are perfect to serve for a tea party.  Or make them for a party treat to give to your dinner party guests just before they leave, with a note saying, “Have a restful sleep and a delicious morning treat.


  • 2 cups oat flour (ground oats)
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 2/3 cup 100% pure maple syrup
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract


Preheat oven to 350 ℉

1- Place oat flour, baking soda and all spices in a large mixing bowl.  Mix with a whisk.

2- Add maple syrup, applesauce and vanilla extract.  Whisk again.

3- Use a 1/3 cup measuring cup to scoop batter into a nonstick donut pan.  Continue scooping until batter is gone.

4- Place donut pan in oven and bake for 18-20 minutes.

5- When fully baked, remove donuts from oven and let sit for at least 30 minutes before serving.  Enjoy!
