Even though I eat whole plant foods, I still overindulge during the holidays, especially if we go out.  It’s almost impossible not to go off plan. I absolutely stay vegan, but will most likely eat something that is not from the garden! Bread, vegetables doused with oil and salt, desserts with lots of “healthy” fats and “healthy” sugars like coconut sugar, enter my body.  It’s important to get right back on track and reset the taste buds with perfectly healthy ingredients.  A juice day is an effective remedy for overeating, or feeling bloated and tired.  Here  is my favorite way to reset, inspired by the Medical Medium’s book, Liver Rescue, which I highly recommend.

Ingredients

For the Liquids and Juices you’ll be drinking all day:
  • 2 lemons
  • 3 large bunches of celery
  • 6 red apples
  • 1 large English Cucumber juice:
  • 1 watermelon, cantaloup or honeydew melon, peeled, seeded and cubed
  • 1-inch piece of ginger root (no need to peel)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

  1. Lemon Water: Upon waking up: drink 16 ounces of water with the juice of ½ lemon. Wait 15 to 30 minutes before drinking celery juice.
  2. Celery Juice: juice 1 large bunch, or more, to make 16 ounces of juice. Strain through a fine mesh strainer, pressing on solids to release all the solids for a pure celery juice. Drink and wait at least one hour before the  next juice.
  3. Apple/Cucumber Juice: juice 3-4 red apples to make 8 ounces, of juice and 1 large English cucumber to make 8 ounces of cucumber  juice. Mix together and drink. Wait at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before next drink
  4. Blended Melon:  place watermelon, cantaloup or honeydew cubes in a blender to make 16-32 ounces, or as much as you’d like.  Wait at least one hour until the next drink.
  5. Apple, Ginger, Celery Juice:  juice 2-3 apples, 2-3 stalks of celery and ginger to make 16 ounces of juice.  Stir in 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Drink and wait an hour for next drink.
  6. Celery Juice: Juice 1 large bunch to make 16 ounces. Strain and drink. Wait an hour before the next drink.
  7. Lemon Water: 2-3 hours before bed, drink 16 ounces of lemon water.

Wake up the next morning feeling GREAT!  Follow eating Garden Food for the rest of your life. Or, what Dr. Alan Goldhamer of True North says, “Just for the next 50 years!”
