Baharat Middle Eastern Spice
Yields: ½ cup
Baharat is the Arabic word for “spice”, and is the all-purpose seasoning used in Middle Eastern cuisine. All grandma’s, cooks and chefs have their own special twist on the ingredients they use to make their dishes to their specific taste. It adds such a rich flavor with sweet, tart and warming spices. Add it to rice, vegetables, grains, potatoes and soups and you’ll see how special this spice is!

- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
Directions
Mix all of the spices together and store in a glass jar in a dark, cool place.
I love to put this spice mixture on steamed potatoes, sweet rice and cauliflower rice. It’s a great idea to season water with the mixture as you steam or parboil vegetables, as well.
