Old Bay Seasoning Recipe

The perfect addition to recipes like my Vegan Crab Cakes, old bay seasoning is a staple that you can actually make yourself right in your own kitchen! This delicious spice blend can be used for a myriad of seasoning reasons, like on your corn, as a topping for popcorn, or as an addition to a salad that you love!   • 1 tablespoon celery seed
  • 2 teaspoons sweet paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 5 bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp. smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly ground white pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp. ground mace
  • ⅛ tsp. ground cardamom
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cinnamon 
  • 1/16  tsp. ground allspice (a tiny pinch)
  • 1/16 tsp. ground clove (a tiny pinch)


Place all of the ingredients in a spice grinder and grind until very fine.  Transfer the spice blend to a jar and store in a dark, cool place. Makes 1/4 Cup.
